Egeskov Castle
Well yes, it’s a castle but only a real little one. The Egeskov Castle has very beautiful gardens and a cool car and motorcycle museum. We spent lots more time at the car museum than the castle. We stayed with about a dozen other RV’s in the Castle car park over night, it was very quiet and a good cheap place to stay for one night.
After the castle we drove across to the west coast, on the way we stopped off at a lookout just for the look.
Travelling There
To get there we had to cross one of the largest bridges we’ve ever seen. The toll on the bridge cost 605 Danish Krone and at 0.22 Australian = $133.10. A massive toll for one trip one way.
Egeskov Castle
Plan showing the overall layout of the entire site. It was very big. Lots of families, arrived at opening time. With many different play areas for children, it will be an all day outing. You can also buy annual passes.
Beautiful Gardens
Inside rooms
The owners were obviously big hunters and collectors. HaHa. Many rooms had hunting trophies and many exhibits of guns and swords.
The Attic
Housed their collection of antique toys. Including a train set from 1912.
Also a collection of antique cooking and kitchen equipment and crockery sets.
The Museum
The museum was broken into quite a few different sections of collections:-
1) Vintage cars, motorbikes, trucks and delivery vans and some aeroplanes, and a helicopter.
2) Rescue Vehicles, which included fire trucks and ambulances - even a near life size Lego ambulance.
3) Outdoor and Camping
4) A complete setup old time shop
5) Another vintage clothing (which we didn’t go into)
Bedford truck, I’m sure my Grandfather had one of these and I have a photo.
Ferrari Testarossa made in 1988. I was very surprised by how small it was. I think Gill would have trouble fitting in it.
As you can see by the size of this one shed alone, the exhibit is extensive. With multiple sheds linked together.
