Stourhead

We thought we’d go look at a little old house today

Stourhead is an estate with lots of buildings, gardens, a church, stable, its own pub, eateries, a farm shop, art gallery, its own lake, etc.  They even host weddings here, there was one on yesterday afternoon.  It was about 30 minutes drive down the road from where we were parked for the night.

The house was built in 1792 and is full of old paintings, sculptures, some awesome furniture and all the other usual bric a brac collected by the wealthy.   Large decorative fireplaces in every room.  The library room was amazing.

I will let the pictures do the talking.

Perry's big finger in the corner.

A very ornate cabinet purchased in Italy, inlaid with gems and stones with 150 plus drawers in the cabinet

The central staircase.

And loved this gnarly old tree
