Off to Norway

 Europe Travel

So we took the EuroTunnel across to Calais, France.  The trip took 35 minutes.  You just drive your van into the train, and drive off again in France.  The entire thing is extremely easy, but was fabulous fun.

The Camp Site in Calais

The camp site was a horrible little place, with super green lawns, large majestic trees, a stone chateau, wine cellar and shop.  The small white pebbled court yard with little tables of people having an afternoon wine or two from the cellar was also horrible.  There is a large indoor swimming and recreation area,,,,,,arrr sorry I can’t lie any more it was all jaw-dropping beautiful.

Travelling (Calais to Denmark border)

The next morning early we set off driving to Norway, via Belguim, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Stayed the first night in an Aires in Germany just south of the Denmark Border. The following morning (up early) and drove to Hirtshals that is at the top of Denmark

Because the V5c was slow in arriving, we decided to change our itinerary, head straight to Norway first and see Copenhagen on the way back.

Day 1

Some sights along the way.

It took us about 5 of these signs to figure out they are an exit sign and not a command.

Day 2 Denmark Border to Hirtshals

A very comfortable 3 to 4 hour drive.

Some sights a long the way
The Danes do the best lakridserne (Licorice)

The Camp for the night

The site is right on the beach.

This is a WW2 pill box on the beach.  There is a number of them dotted around the hill sides.
