The Royal Pavilion
We’ve made a separate post just for the Royal Pavilion. There is just so much that was wow!
Queen Elizabeth donated a large number of the items back to the Pavilion that had been removed over the years. The Pavilion is now owned by the city of Brighton, purchase in 1850 for over 50,000GBP.
It was also used as a hospital during WW1 until 1920.
It is a very popular historical site, with lots of school tours groups going through on the same day as us.
A model of the Pavilion
This is not a painting or tapestry
It’s actually made from thousands of small stones and weighs of 500kg’s and is 3 to 4 meters long. You had to get up real close to even see how it was made.
The Kitchen
I know a few chef's who would love this size kitchen. But you'd need a staff to keep it clean.
The Dining Room
The Music Room
The white dome part of the ceiling is made of over 1,000 shells, each hand cut to suit.
The main chandelier weighs over half a tonne.
The music room is like a two part room, a big room with it’s own pipe organ and a sitting room for people to wait in….etc

The most intricate doorway I've ever seen!!!
Other rooms and knick knacks.
Carpet detail. The Music room was extensively damaged by an arson attack in 1975 and was closed for 11 years and then in the great storm of 1987 a ball of stone dislodged from the roof and fell through the ceiling and the room was again restored - the carpet was re-weaved.
Other interesting Items
A royal bucket….!
This is made of bronze and wood
Just a pic of a hottie that I found along the way.
Glass ceilings
The hat boxes needed to be extra-large to fit the feathers plumes of their hats.
