This morning we left Oslo and about an hour lately we crossed the border into Sweden. It is not a “ hard border” meaning we didn’t have to stop and present our passports. We simply drove through.
Here the countryside is definitely more rolling green hills and lots of pine tree forests.
Our stop for the night was a large camp park with over 300 sites for caravans, Motorhome and tents. The summer holiday season is starting now in Sweden and they claimed they were fully booked out by the end of this week. As they had their own beach area which was really lake frontage. Lots of facilities for kids.

Leaving Karlstad on our way out of town we went chasing the Ostra Bron, The Old Stone Bridge, also called Gamla Stenbron. It is the longest stone arch bridge in Sweden, at 168 metres in length and with 12 spans of arches. Unfortunately our GPS was not up to its usual helpful self and tried routing us up one way streets, before announcing “warning - you are about to enter a prohibited area”. So a quick left turn and another right and some more zigzagging and we quickly pulled over. Gill jumped out and run across the parkland and took some very quick photos of the bridge, while Perry put the days final destination into the GPS and hoped it would safely navigate us out of the area.
